Training Overview:
This training is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of addiction, its neurological underpinnings, and effective response strategies. The session will cover the following key objectives:
Objectives:
- Define addiction and the basic neurological components of addiction.
- Identify dopamine’s role in addiction.
- Identify substances, their major categories, and common effects.
- Recognize & Respond to an opioid overdose.
- Understand how to administer Naloxone (Narcan) & compassionate overdose response.
- Identify stages of addiction & recovery.
- Understand the importance of meeting people where they are at.
- Multiple Pathways to Recovery: “Paved” or Unpaved
- Define & identify stigma; understand non-stigmatizing language.
- Define harm reduction, the importance of it, and best practices.
- Recognize opportunities for collaboration as SUD professionals.
This training is approved by MCBAP and MI Peers for 4 contact hours
