Addiction 101 and Opioid Overdose Education & Naloxone Distribution

Training Overview:

This training is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of addiction, its neurological underpinnings, and effective response strategies. The session will cover the following key objectives:

Objectives:

• Define addiction and the basic neurological components of addiction.
• Identify dopamine’s role in addiction.
• Identify substances, their major categories, and common effects.
• Recognize & Respond to an opioid overdose.
• Understand how to administer Naloxone (Narcan) & compassionate overdose response.
• Identify stages of addiction & recovery.
• Understand the importance of meeting people where they are at.
• Multiple Pathways to Recovery: “Paved” or Unpaved
• Define & identify stigma; understand non-stigmatizing language.
• Define harm reduction, the importance of it, and best practices.
• Recognize opportunities for collaboration as SUD professionals.

This training is approved by MCBAP and MI Peers for 4 contact hours
