DESCRIPTION:This class meets the requirements of court ordered participation and/or child welfare system mandates (CPS requirements). \nThe Nurturing Parenting Program is an evidence-based\, trauma-informed initiative designed to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect by building positive parenting skills. Nurturing Parenting is an innovative model designed to meet the needs of families with children ranging in age from prenatal to 19 years old. \nSix protective factors are integrated into the lessons of the Nurturing Parenting Program. \nThe six factors include:  \n1. Nurturing and Attachment \n2. Knowledge of Parenting and Youth Development \n3. Parental Resilience \n4. Social Connections \n5. Concrete Supports for Parents \n6. Social and Emotional Competence of Children \n  \nEligibility: \n\nFor families with children ranging in age from prenatal to 19 years old and who are involved with the child-welfare system\, including: having lost custody or parental rights; are court mandated; are being referred by child protective services (CPS)\, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)\, other a private adoption agency; or have custody of their child(ren) less than 50% of the time.\nNew registrants need to be in attendance by second night of class to maintain class enrollment\nAttending 19.5 hours out of 22.5 classroom hours are required to receive a certificate of completion.\n\n  \nClick here to register.

Through interactive activities\, students learn about nicotine dependence\, explore healthy alternatives\, and work towards becoming free from all tobacco products\, including e-cigarettes. This series is 4-weeks \nYouth Tobacco/Vape intervention class. Sessions are one-hour long one time per week. \nCan be used as alternative to suspension or citation. \nParticipants need to attend all four classes\, and complete 80% of classroom hours to receive certificate of completion. \nNo new registrants can join after first night of class. \nClick Here to register for the class.

Social and Emotional Competence of Children \n  \nEligibility: \n\nFor families with children ranging in age from prenatal to 19 years old and who are involved with the child-welfare system\, including: having lost custody or parental rights; are court mandated; are being referred by child protective services (CPS)\, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)\, other a private adoption agency; or have custody of their child(ren) less than 50% of the time.\nNew registrants need to be in attendance by second night of class to maintain class enrollment\nAttending 19.5 hours out of 22.5 classroom hours are required to receive a certificate of completion.
