Paula Roman, Chairperson
Paula is a Senior Vice President of Retail Banking at PNC Bank, she oversees the activity of 18 branches in the Northeast Region of the Detroit Market.  She has 22 years of experience in retail banking and has experience in finance and management. Paula is a Certified Women’s Business Active. She is a 2010 graduate of the Business of Banking School, and a 2013 graduate of Women Unlimited LEAD program. Paula is founder and president of PNC’s Women’s Employee Business Resource Group in Detroit, and a member of Great Start Macomb and executive board member of the metropolitan board of the YMCA. Paula has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2011, and is an active member of CARE’s Executive committee, Audit Subcommittee, Internal Operations Committee, External Outreach Committee, and the Governance Committee. 

Mike Fontana, Secretary
Mike is currently a residential mortgage officer, with a license to do business throughout the state of Michigan. He has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2016, and holds 10-plus years’ experience serving on other local Board of Directors and committees. Including serving as an active board member for the Holy Cross Children Services Board of Directors, the Friends of Macomb Township Board of Directors, and the Michigan Mortgage Lenders Assn Board of Governors. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Guest House Inc, and as Chairman for the Run the Plank: 3 Miles of Faith 5K Run/Walk, Run Macomb, Detroit Archdiocesan Vocation League, St Isidore Strawberry Festival, St Isidore Fellowship Committee, as well as, Secretary for the St Isidore Parish Finance Council. Mike is also a member of CARE’s Governance Committee, Audit Subcommittee, Internal Operations Committee, and External Outreach Committee.

Harry Kalogerakos, Vice Chairperson, Internal Operations
Harry is an Attorney with experience in municipal law, labor relations, real estate, priority of liens, bankruptcy and commercial litigation.  He has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2010, and is a member of CARE's Governance Committee and Internal Operations Committee. As a Board member, he hopes to develop policies that will allow CARE to grow and deliver its services to more people. Current Board member of Detroit east, Inc., past Board member of Lutheran Outdoor Retreat Ministries in Michigan.

Debbie Smith, Vice Chairperson, External Outreach
Debbie is the Manager of Child Government Nutrition Programs at Gleaners Community Food Bank. She received a Associates in Business Administration from Macomb County College, and was formerly the Director of Facility at Jewish Family Service and Director of Quality Assurance at the Children's Home of Detroit. Debbie is an active member of CARE's Ride 4 Recovery planning committee, Governance Committee, and External Outreach Committee.  She is also a member of Families Against Narcotics. Debbie has been a member CARE's Board of Directors since 2013. 

Karen Beger, Treasurer 
Karen is a registered nurse and is currently the Director of Community Health for St. John Providence Ascension. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master in Education from Wayne State University.  Karen is an active member of CARE’s Internal Operations Committee, and Audit Subcommittee. She has been a member CARE's Board of Directors since 2011. 

Annie Kosek
Annie received her MBA from Wayne State University, and is currently the is a Project Manager for Ameriprise Financial’s Investment Research Group. Annie is an active member of CARE's External Outreach Committee, and has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2015. She is also an active member of the Detroit Institute of Arts. 

Elyse Barr
Elyse has over ten years of experience working throughout the corporate, hospitality and non-profit industries. She currently works at JR Turnbull Communications a marketing and event company in Detroit. She has executed numerous events including Crains Detroit Homecoming, bringing business back into Detroit, and Accelerate Michigan, a competition for mid to late stage entrepreneurs similar to shark tank. Along with events, Elyse’s heart lies in the charitable giving she executed and relationships she built with the 261 charities throughout Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio participating in the Art Van Charity Challenge (AVCC). Elyse has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2017, and is also a member of CARE's External Outreach Committee.

Peter Kolat
Peter is a Founder and CEO of a leading direct response marketing and business growth consulting company based right here in Southeast Michigan. He has an MBA from Oakland University, and is actively involved in CARE's mission, he has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2014. He is also an active member of CARE's Ride 4 Recovery planning committee, and External Outreach Committee.  Since his dad was claimed by substance abuse, his goal for CARE is to help the organization not only impact southeast Michigan, but families far beyond those counties.

Lucia S. Smith
Lucy is a retired educator from the Macomb Intermediate School District. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Michigan, and has been a member of CARE's Board of Directors since 2007. Lucy is also an active member on CARE's Governance Committee, and the External Outreach Committee.
