We involve ourselves in advocacy efforts, Project Vox members work to develop and influence public policy decisions and support substance use disorder prevention and treatment programs.
Our goal is to educate members of society, including those working in public systems and political entities. Current research establishing alcoholism and drug addiction as a disease will ultimately eliminate the stigma attached to this chronic illness. This is important because funding for treatment is often attached to the views legislatures and others believe about alcoholism and drug addiction.
Complacency undermines progress. Current research has opened the door to a greater understanding of those that become addicted to substances. Project Vox spreads the word and motivates others to get on board — substance use disorders cause many of society's problems and they can only be addressed through a comprehensive understanding of addiction.
